This weekend, the ROUSH Performance Road Racing Team will be racing at Road America. Qualifying will take place at 10:45 am CT on Saturday, June 27th, and the two races will take place on Saturday at 3:40 pm CT and Sunday at 11:10 am CT.
The No. 60 ROUSH Performance Mustang will be driven by Jack Roush Jr. with Capaldi Racing handling crew duties. At last year’s Pirelli World Challenge event at Road America, Jack had a great run in the first race, but hit a patch of oil on the track that unfortunately resulted in a collision with another car. Although the crash didn’t immediately end his day, it took out the car’s transmission cooler, which eventually did cause the car to have a mechanical failure. In the second race, Jack rallied back and put up a strong fight to make it on to the podium. Although Jack feels good about being back, he feels that the new restrictor that the series placed on the Mustangs prior to the event will be a challenge.
“Road America is one of my favorite tracks,” says Jack Jr. “It has a character that you only get at the great historic tracks. The high-speed kinks and intense brake zone test both your brain in set-up and your guts for pushing the limit.”
The Capaldi Racing team also is campaigning the No. 68 BOSS 302 this weekend with Joey Atterbury behind the wheel. Joey drove with Capaldi last year at Mid-Ohio and Sonoma, and has been a member of the ROUSH Road Racing Team in the past, co-driving the No. 51 Mustang in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Series with Shelby Blackstock.
“It’s great to be back in a racecar, especially at such an amazing track with a great team. The Capaldi guys know how to put together a fast car as we’ve stood on the World Challenge podium last year at Sonoma. Needless to say, the entire Roush family is great to work with, working alongside Jack Jr. is always a good time, and we are both looking to work together for a great result here at Road America.”
The No. 60 Mustang is sponsored by ROUSH Performance, Quarter Master, GoPro, PWR, Kooks, BMRS, KW Suspensions, and NanoProMT. The Capaldi team is sponsored by Wolverine Bronze Co.
